Skyhigh India's Datana Airstrip operation in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is the winter base of India's only USPA Foreign Affiliate dropzone — running October through February, when the flagship Narnaul site in Haryana sits out the north-Indian winter weather. The equipment and standards travel with the team: Sigma tandem systems, USPA-licensed instructors with national-award records and thousands of jumps, DGCA-certified aircraft and SOPs, and dual-canopy rigs with an automatic activation device on every reserve. Tandems exit the Cessna 172 Skyhawk at 10,000 ft after roughly an hour of ground training — freefall runs 20–30 seconds at around 220 km/h before a five-to-six-minute canopy ride over the Malwa plateau. Ujjain itself is one of India's seven sacred cities, home of the Mahakaleshwar temple and a host city of the Kumbh Mela; the airstrip sits about an hour by road from Indore, the nearest airport city, which makes the jump an easy add-on to a central-India itinerary. Pricing starts around ₹35,400 for the entry tandem, with a video package above it and a full AFF programme for those starting a licence — Skyhigh is one of very few operations in India where AFF is possible at all. One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll have to have patience because of safety precautions they take for each sortie and according to that your number to skydive will come. The reason why I’m mentioning this is that, I reached there on time but I was the last sortie which drained a lot of my energy as each sortie took around 30-45 mins and there were 9 sorties before me. They need to pair you with an instructor according to your height and weight so you can be the first or last sortie, there’s no such thing as first come first serve. So, stay calm and composed, everyone in there is very professional and doing their job which is to get you to land safely and make this activity a memorable experience for you.
