Malaysia's skydiving story is currently in transition. The country's flagship outdoor operation — tandem jumps over Langkawi's UNESCO Geopark archipelago — has been paused since the pandemic, and no Malaysian outdoor dropzone is currently taking bookings. What remains open year-round is indoor: Windlab Indoor Skydiving at 1 Utama in the Klang Valley offers bodyflight for first-timers and licensed jumpers alike, and it's an excellent way to build real freefall skills before an outdoor jump. If you're set on a real jump, the nearest active dropzones are in Thailand — a short flight from Kuala Lumpur, with several operators bookable through Skydive In Asia. We track every operator in the region and will relist Malaysian outdoor dropzones the moment they resume operations.

Is skydiving open in Malaysia right now?
Outdoor tandem skydiving in Malaysia is temporarily paused — Skydive Langkawi, Helang Megah (Kuala Lumpur) and Hawk's Sports Skydiving Club (Segamat) are all closed as of July 2026. Indoor skydiving is fully open: Windlab at 1 Utama in Petaling Jaya flies year-round from RM 138. Each paused operator's page shows its verified status and has a reopening waitlist.
When will Skydive Langkawi reopen?
There is no confirmed reopening date yet. We re-verify the operator's status regularly and note the last-checked date on the Skydive Langkawi page — join the waitlist there and we'll email you the moment tandem jumps over the Andaman Sea resume.
How much does skydiving in Malaysia cost?
Indoor skydiving at Windlab starts at RM 138 for two flights (RM 198 for four). When outdoor tandems last operated in Langkawi they started around RM 1,200. The nearest open outdoor tandem jumps are in Thailand, from THB 8,850 in Chiang Mai.
Where is the nearest place to do a real outdoor tandem jump?
Thailand. Thai Sky Adventures near Pattaya and two operators in Chiang Mai run tandems from 13,000 ft year-round, with direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Both are bookable through Skydive In Asia.
Can Malaysians still learn to skydive (AFF)?
With Hawk's Sports' static-line programme paused, most Malaysian students currently train in Thailand — a full AFF course in Chiang Mai starts around THB 88,000, with A-licence packages from THB 149,000. A wind-tunnel session at Windlab in KL is a popular way to prepare before the course.
Is indoor skydiving at Windlab like the real thing?
It's the same freefall body position and airflow, flown safely inside a vertical wind tunnel at 1 Utama Shopping Centre — no plane, no parachute, no weather. Ages 4 and up can fly, and real skydivers use tunnels for training. From RM 138 for two flights.
