The jump, honestly described.
A tandem skydive is the simplest way into the sky. You are physically attached to a tandem master — an instructor with thousands of jumps who wears the parachute, controls the exit, stabilises the freefall and flies the canopy to a soft landing. Your only job is to arch, breathe, and look at the view.
What actually happens on the day
Plan for about three hours on site for roughly ninety seconds in the air. You arrive, sign the waiver and get weighed, then a twenty-minute brief covers body position and what to expect. You gear up, board a light aircraft and climb for fifteen to twenty minutes to around 13,000 feet.
The door opens, you rock out attached to your instructor, and you are in freefall at roughly 200 km/h. After about a minute the canopy opens with a firm tug and the noise stops — four to five calm minutes steering down to the landing zone.
Who can do a tandem
Most operators take jumpers from 18 (or younger with a guardian's consent where local rules allow), up to an upper weight around 95–110 kg confirmed on the day, in reasonable general health. Height, recent injuries and some medical conditions are checked operator-side.

None. On a tandem you are attached to a licensed instructor who controls the whole jump. The pre-jump brief is about twenty minutes and covers body position and landing — that is the extent of the "training".
Skydiving carries real risk, but tandem is the most controlled form of it. Every operator we list is vetted, runs maintained equipment with an automatic activation device on the reserve, and is flown by an instructor with thousands of jumps. We never list an operator we have not vetted.

It varies by country and what is included. Starting prices currently run from about THB 7,850 in Thailand (≈ USD 241) to INR 35,400 in India. The cost band above shows ranges by country — final pricing comes from each operator.
Less like falling than like floating on a firm cushion of air — the wind is loud and the ground is far enough away that it does not rush up at you. Most first-timers describe the canopy ride afterwards, not the freefall, as the surprise: silent and still.
Comfortable clothes and trainers; the operator supplies the jumpsuit and harness. Personal cameras are not allowed on tandems, but most operators offer handcam or outside-camera video as an add-on you arrange when you book.
Jumps are weather-dependent. If the operator stands the day down, they rebook you or refund in full — there is no customer-side surcharge for a weather hold.
